Determine What Kind of Location You Want:

Start with Your Story:

Every good adventure has a beginning, and ours starts with your story. What places resonate with you? Maybe it's where you had your first date, your favorite weekend getaway spot, or even your backyard. Share these special places with your photographer, because when your comfort shines, the photos shine.

Seek Local Charm:

Every town has its own hidden nooks and crannies. From rustic barns to urban graffiti walls to tall grassy fields, these spots add local flavor to your photos. Ask for your photographer’s expertise—they're likely to have a list of go-to spots that are local favorite spots.

Embrace the Season:

The season can dramatically transform a location. A blooming garden in spring, a beach in the summer, a forest painted with autumn colors, or a snowy mountain in the winter—each offers a unique canvas. Think about the season when you're planning your shoot and let nature's palette inspire you.

How to FIND Locations:

Scour Social Media:

Welcome to the digital age of exploration! Platforms like Instagram and Pinterest are treasure troves for location scouting. Search hashtags, location tags, and even local photographers' feeds for inspiration. Spotted a place you love? Let’s check it out!

Ask Friends and Family:

Did you see a cute photo of a friend or family member and LOVE the location? Ask them where they took it! I'm sure they would be happy to share it with you.

Take a Drive or a Stroll:

Sometimes, the best locations are found the old-fashioned way—by getting out there. Take a drive, walk, or hike around your city or countryside. You’d be surprised how often the perfect spot is just around the corner!

Aspects to Consider:

Consider the Light:

In photography, light is everything. A location might look completely different in the soft glow of sunrise versus the afternoon, the golden hour of sunset, or the blue hour. I love to visit potential spots at various times to see how the light plays. Let's talk, and we'll find the perfect time of day for your shoot!

Keep Logistics in Mind:

Accessibility is key. We might find a breathtaking mountaintop, but if it requires a three-hour hike, it may not be practical for everyone. Consider parking, restrooms, and whether the location requires permits or fees. I’m all for adventure, but let’s keep it fun and feasible.

Be Open to the Unexpected:

Some of the best locations are discovered by chance. Maybe it’s a new cafe with a beautiful interior or a grassy field with a pond that’s just begging for a photoshoot. Stay open-minded, and don’t be afraid to suggest somewhere new—even if it’s a bit unconventional.

Ask Your Photographer!

If you want to find the perfect location, ask your photographer! We are constantly exploring inside and outside, on the lookout for good locations. We speak to so many community members and learn some of the best locations in our local areas.

If you have a vision for your location, your photographer will know a spot!

Share your ideas, dreams, and even Pinterest boards with me. Together, we’ll discuss the vibe you’re going for and scout out locations that will bring your vision to life! Ready to find your perfect location and create some photo magic? Send me a message, and let’s get started! Let's make some magic and tell YOUR story!
